Corbyns Replacement To Be Chosen

Labour selects new leadership candidate

Corbyn's replacement to be chosen

NEC opens candidate selection process

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Labour Party has opened the candidate selection process to replace former party leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Corbyn, who led Labour from 2015 to 2020, has been MP for Islington North since 1983. He was suspended from the party in October 2020 and it soon became apparent that he would not be standing for re-election as leader.

The NEC has now announced that the process of selecting a new leader will begin immediately. Candidates will be able to submit their nominations from 22 January, and the deadline for nominations is 14 February.

The new leader will be chosen by a ballot of Labour Party members and affiliated supporters. The ballot will open on 2 March and close on 2 April. The result will be announced on 4 April.

The Labour Party is currently the official opposition in the UK Parliament. The new leader will be tasked with leading the party into the next general election, which is due to be held in 2024.

The selection of a new Labour leader is a significant event in British politics. The new leader will have a major impact on the direction of the party and the country.
